For my 50th Birthday I had a free weekend just before and some friends of mined were flying to Norway to watch a band in a place called Horten but they had booked a few days in Oslo before hand. They flew out on the thuraday but I had an event to attend in London that night so I booked to go out on the friday morning and meet them there.

Having passed through Oslo airpot several times but never visited the city I thought it was a great chance to see what Oslo has to offer and catch up with a Norwegian friend whilst there. I was booked into the Radisson Blue Plaza hotel which is located right next to Oslo S Station. The express train is arround £20 but there is the Vy train which is slightly cheaper and not much slower.

The reception looked amazing with the Christmas decorations up. Check in was a little bit more difficult as I was left with the impression they could not find my booking but eventually I was given a key card and they had ugraded my room as it was my birthday. I was on the 27th floor but the lifts were exremely quick and efficient.

Lift controls where you enter your floor to hail the lift.

The room was modern and very comfortable, I didnt spend too long in it as we had quite a packed itinery on the trip.

The was a lovely bathroom too but there was a stop going into it which could be quite dangerous if you forget about it.

The View from the 27th floor was specacular, I was overlooking the city but my friends were on the otherside of the hotel with a view of the fjord which did look great.

The bar in the foyer had a nice feel about it although the was not a huge choice of beer (carlsbeg being the one draught beer and they only had 0.4 ltr glasses which at £9.65 works out at £14 a pint but this is Norway so you certainly dont get many cheap drinks!

Oslo is an amazing city with very friendly people. It is easy to get about and order as everybody seems to speak english. It isnt a cheap city to visit but it is certainly worth a visit and I would certainly recommend this hotel as a great base when you do so.
